Student Group Membership

The RMA’s Student Group scheme allows music departments and conservatoires to take out institutional membership as a way of encouraging their research students to become part of the wider academic community. This membership runs by academic year, rather than calendar year. Benefits include:

  • Free or discounted participation fees at RMA events such as the Research Students’ Conference, Annual Conference and Study Days
  • Eligibility for Student Research Grants to cover expenses for research trips and conference attendance
  • Expert guidance and small grants to help with organizing Study Days in your institution
  • Career advice on topics such as how to get published and tips on applying for research funds
  • Online and print copies of the Journal of the Royal Musical Association and Research Chronicle
  • Monthly e-bulletin providing information on calls for papers, new publications and other academic news
  • Discounted books from a wide range of academic publishers
  • Individual student access to the RMA members’ directory

Institutions wishing to enrol an RMA Student Group should e-mail a list of the names and e-mail addresses of all students to be enrolled to Amanda Babington, the Executive Officer, together with a purchase order if necessary. Payment by BACS transfer is preferred; card payment can be accepted with a surcharge of £10/£15/£20 according to band.
