MUSICA BRITANNICA RECORDING AWARD
The Trustees of Musica Britannica are delighted to announce the winners of the 2023 Musica Britannica Recording Award, which supports the production of high-quality recordings of repertory included within the edition. Awards of £2,000 have been made to the following applicants:
- Giulia Nuti, to record an album of keyboard music by Benjamin Cosyn from Musica Britannica vol. 107
- Julian Perkins to produce an audio-visual recording introducing and performing music by Thomas Tomkins, Maurice Greene and Thomas Roseingrave from Musica Britannica vols. 5, 84 and 106.
- Solomon’s Knot to produce a recording of vocal music by George Jeffreys from Musica Britannica vol. 105.

LEWIS MEMORIAL PRIZE
The annual Lewis Memorial Prize competition took place at the Royal Academy of Music, London, on 4 April 2023. The award was established by the Musica Britannica trust in 1996 in memory of the first General Editor and Chairman, Sir Anthony Lewis, and now commemorates both him and his wife Lesley, Lady Lewis, who was a generous supporter of the competition.
The 2023 competition was for keyboard players, and the trustee are pleased to announce that First Prize was awarded to Matthew Brown (Guildhall School of Music and Drama), while the Second Prize was awarded to Apolline Khou (Royal College of Music). Both performers win a cash prize and three Musica Britannica volumes of their choice.
The 2024 competition will be for singers. Details will be posted on the Musica Britannica website (https://www.musicabritannica.org.uk/ALMP.html) in early summer 2023.
