There are lots of ways students can get involved in the RMA:

Become a Member

Becoming a member of the RMA is a great way to keep in touch with what’s hot in British musicology. Benefits include discounts on registration fees for RMA events, discounts on books from many academic publishers, funding opportunities, monthly bulletins, and online and print copies of the Journal of the Royal Musical Association and the Research Chronicle.

Attend the RMA Conferences

Present a paper or simply come along to the RMA’s Annual Conference (September) and the highlight of the RMA students’ calendar – the annual RMA Research Students’ Conference (January). These are great opportunities to network with other academics, share your work, and get feedback and tips to help your academic progress.

Organise an RMA Study Day

Apply for financial support and administrative guidance to help organise a study day on any music-related topic.

Write a Blog Post

Do you have something you’d like to share with the world? Then why not write a blog post? Submissions on music-related topics are welcome from all university music students.

Showcase your Blog, Podcast, or Other Music Research Platform

The RMA student blog list is a great way to present your work to the field and see how other students are disseminating their research to the public.

Contact or Join the Committee

The RMA Student Committee is keen to hear the questions, ideas, and concerns of RMA Student Members. Student Representatives and Ordinary Members of the committee are elected annually and stand for two years. Information on Student Committee elections are announced in September or October, and results are announced at the RMA Research Students’ Conference.
